WIMS 2.0 AT NGMAST’08 and JITEL 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The WIMS 2.0 is attending the Second International Conference and Exhibition on Next Generation Mobile Applications, Services and Technologies, NGMAST’08, in Cardiff, from the 16th to 19th of September. WIMS 2.0 will participate in session “IMS Enhancements”, on Wednesday 17th, at 10:30 h (conference programme), with the presentation “WIMS 2.0, converging IMS and Web 2.0. Designing REST APIs for the exposure of session-based IMS” which introduces the WIMS 2.0 initiative and presents a design for the exposition of session-based IMS capabilities through REST APIs based on the AtomPub protocol. Likewise, WIMS is attending JITEL 2008, “VII Jornadas de Ingeniería Telemática”, that celebrates at the University of Alcalá de Henares from the 16th-18th September. WIMS 2.0 will participate this Wednesday, 17th of September at 13:00 h, with the presentation of the poster: “WIMS 2.0: CONVERGENCIA DE LA WEB 2.0 CON IMS. IMPLEMENTACIÓN DE UNA API REST DE PRESENCIA EN UNA ARQUITECTURA WIMS 2.0” , which presents the implementation of a Presence API within WIMS 2.0 architecture.

About the NGMAST2008, this conference will focus on all novel aspects of technology, application and service development within the Mobile and Wireless Communications community. It aims to bring together a wide spectrum of international experts from the fields of research, business and policy, to facilitate a creative forum for the promotion of collaboration and knowledge transfer. NGMAST 2008 conference will include sessions on: IMS enhancements, peer to peer/energy consumption, WiMax and beyond, services platforms beyond IMS, m-commerce, propagation and antennas, QoS mechanisms in NGN, sharing and accessing content, ad hoc networks, services in cellular networks, location techniques, mobility in NGN, service composition/ context aware services and QoS techniques among others.

About JITEL, this conference aims to be a forum for knowledge transmission and debate among Spanish groups dedicated to teaching or research on Telecom Networks and Services.
 
WIMS 2.0 at the IEEE ICWMC 08 (4th International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications) PDF Print E-mail

The WIMS 2.0 is attending the 4th International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications, IEEE ICWMC 2008 , in Athens, from the 27th of July to 1st of August. WIMS 2.0 will participate in session “Mobile Communications”, on Monday 28th of July, from 17:30 to 18:30 h, (preliminary programme), with the industrial presentation “WIMS 2.0: Converging IMS and Web 2.0. New multimedia services for Telecom Networks”, which introduces the strategic principles of the initiative and their application in multiple telco and Web 2.0 convergent services. About the ICWMC 08, this conference addresses wireless related topics concerning integration of latest technological advances to realize mobile and ubiquitous service environments for advanced applications and services in wireless networks. Mobility and wireless, special services and lessons learnt from particular deployment complement the traditional wireless topics. This conference covers technical papers presenting research and practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of topics, short papers on work in progress, workshops and panel proposals.

On the 10th of July, WIMS 2.0 attended the conference with the title “Socioeconomía en la Web 2.0”, organized by Antonio Fumero, Joaquín Salvachúa y Luis Ángel Galindo, sponsorized by Alcatel-Lucent, in which Spanish experts and promoters of the Web 2.0 talked about the penetration and importance of the Web 2.0 in different areas of society. Now we have their presentations available (please note they are in Spanish since the conference was held in this language). WIMS 2.0 at the “Socioeconomics in the Web 2.0” conference organized by Alcatel-Lucent PDF Print E-mail

WIMS 2.0 initiative is participating in the conference organized by Alcatel-Lucent: “Socioeconomics in the Web 2.0”. This event will be held next 10th of July at the Alcatel-Lucent premises in Madrid (Alcatel-Lucent Auditorium, Ramírez de Prado 5). During this conference, economic and social aspects of the application and penetration of Web 2.0 and social networks within multiple areas of society like mobile communications, education, social action, politics, enterprises, journalism and television will be covered along different dedicated sessions to these fields. Concretely, WIMS 2.0 initiative will be presented in the “Mobile 2.0” session, from 12:00-12:45. Also, a session dedicated to intellectual property within the Web 2.0 scenario is scheduled.

25-26 June 2008. First international workshop on user-centric service creation and execution.

The WIMS 2.0 initiative is attending the first international workshop on user-centric service creation and execution - UGS Workshop - to be held the next 25th and 26th of June in Madrid. WIMS 2.0 will participate during the session “Services creation & execution by end users, Telco & Internet visions”, to be held on the 25th of June, from 11.30-14.00, where key players will share their ongoing activities in the field, providing Telco and Internet visions on their current user-centric approaches to end-user services. Namely, Mr. Guillermo Cajigas, R&D Specialist from Vodafone, Mr. Shinya Kukita, Corporate Chief Engineer from NEC Japan, Mr. Igor Douplitzky, Strategic Marketing from Orange, Mr. Christophe Lauer, Web + Windows Live Specialist from Microsoft France and Mr. Luis Angel Galindo, Senior Strategy Manager from Telefonica will participate in this session. Regarding WIMS 2.0, Mr. Luis Angel Galindo (Telefonica) will present the UGS principles and technology in the WIMS 2.0 initiative.

UGS Workshop is organized by the FP6 IST OPUCE (Open Platform for User-centric Service Creation and Execution) project (http://www.opuce.tid.es), supported also by the TSOA (Telecom Service Oriented Architectures) ad-hoc cluster of European research projects. The main goal of this 2-day workshop is to create a forum where the most innovative research in the field of user centric service creation and execution could disseminate and demonstrate their advances. To this respect, European research projects, namely, OPUCE, SPICE, PLASTIC, SMS, MAGNET and LOMS will be presented. Also EzWeb (http://ezweb.morfeo-project.org )and MyMobileWeb (http://mymobileweb.morfeo-project.org ) projects will have a session as special invited projects. The event will be held at UPM premises in Madrid, Spain, on the 25th and 26 th of June.

WIMS 2.0 at the ICT Mobile Summit 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The WIMS 2.0 initiative is attending the ICT Mobile Summit 2008 in Stockholm, from the 10th to the 12th of June. WIMS 2.0 will be participating in the session 2d: Beyond IMS - Architectures and Business Models, next Tuesday 10th at 11:00h, with a paper introducing the technology principles of the initiative.

 

About the ICT Mobile Summit: The ICT Mobile and Wireless Communications Summit (ICT-MobileSummit 2008) takes place in the Innovative City of Stockholm. This is the seventeenth in a series of Annual Conferences supported by the European Commission, which regularly attracts over 600 delegates from industry and research to share experiences and research results, identify future trends, discuss business opportunities and identify opportunities for international research collaboration under the ICT Theme of Framework Programme 7 (FP7). It will thus contribute to showcasing European research in the field, and position it within the multiplicity of related initiatives supported in other regions of the world.
